Welcome back ! How time flies!
This gorgeous sign was hand designed and burned by Katie and Adam!! They did such a great job...a real treasure!!
Catch up...so back to December 28, 2018.
For the second year in a row, December seemed to be a logical time to pour concrete!
The goal of the project was to pour concrete between the buildings ....plain and simple to cut down on tripping.
Secondly, on the back side of the camp, the newly poured concrete patio area will allow the hand truck to be used to move small pallets / carts of wood from the new building into the camp on the concrete. The hope is that this will eliminate the often encountered running out of wood in the camp on a Wednesday night when it is too muddy to get the forklift around the back of the camp. This has made people cranky in the past.
Thanks to CB Excavating for use of concrete tools! Thanks to mother nature delivering very mild weather this was a success!

The problem in the pic at the right is pretty obvious. This horizontal limb is leaning on 2 other trees. The goal is to drop the broken limb, and the stick remaining beneath it without hitting the maple that is bent in the background of this picture.
Bob and Brad have schemed all week on how this might happen. They formed plan A, B and C!
Katie and Adam and Evan met at 9 am to participate in day number one of 2019.
While they fueled up Walle, Katie, Adam and Gerri walked the south path and counted a total of 4 trees that will require some chainsaw attention. Evan followed with a chainsaw, and by the time they all met up, Evan had moved most of the wood by himself!
Today was Piper's first trip to the woods in the winter....she had a great time. Lola and Piper rode back home in the cab in of the Ford, both asleep before home!
Katie entertained the lap dog while waiting for the tree to drop!
As luck would have it, this tree dropped pretty smoothly in a short period of time.Attempting to insert a video here!
However the next tree, an ash, was an hour long adventure involving 2 chain saws, an axe, a port-a -power jack and eventually a chain...and Walle. This looked like a simple drop, but was NOT.
Katie and Gerri and the dogs tapped out for warmer climates while the guys dropped a couple more "leaner" trees.
The day was a success overall, the south path is cleared, for today at least and there are a few less "leaner" trees!!
