HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!

FUN FACT: 428 page views yesterday, assuming aunt dorothy did not look 427 times....that is really great!

Another sunny, pretty day with a little wind. Trees apparently did not mind the breeze as they kept on running today. Brad & Bob again did the short north in the late afternoon to get some sap to get started. Chuck got a good fire started and helped Dale cut up a pile of 2 X 4's from Sandhill Rd.  Muff, Adam, Katie, Gary, Susan B. and later Gerri gathered the rest of the woods beginning  on the north, then east then south paths respectively.

The moss is very, very green for the first few days of sap season.

On the way to the south path, Adam apparently asked Gerri if she thought they should dump the tank. She answered no. After he drove Wally 50 yards past the camp Gerri asked Adam why he didn't dump the tank. Gerri didn't hear what Adam said that time either...just hands thrown up in the air and probably an eye roll....too dark to see that. Everything happens for a reason...guess it was Adam's need to practice backing up Wally that led to this. Woops.

It was nearly dark when we arrived back at the camp ......if only Adam had not wasted all that time backing up....but A LOT better than the marathon the night before.  There were 370 gallons in all tonight, perhaps a little more than expected. The syrup is very light and tastes much better to us than day one.

Susan B. ran to Shiloh today and brought back some carbs. Ted and Nancy were kind enough to  make a subway run....Brad returned from practice in time to enjoy that aspect of the evening. He split some wood to amuse himself. Several of us had a nice visit with Cody on the phone (he called Chuck to see what was going on...figured he would be the most reliable source of info....haha).

Chuck appeared to be in better shape than the rest of the crew tonight with his quick wit. Brad said to be sure to mention in the blog that Chuck is "all cranked up today." Happy to do so as that will give him something to complain about tomorrow. Today's main gripe centered around his assumption that Bob stole some of his buckets!

Very excited to see the neighbors camp all filled up with light and life! Good for you!!! Bob had a fun chat with Jackie and Rick at intervals.

This is the sunset view from the camp on Friday Feb 10th, the night before we tapped trees.

 Brad and Lola's Sunday
evening nap.

Driver Sunday not as cute as Driver Saturday :)

FINALLY found somebody, other than Cody, that thinks I am a good lap dog!

Only light on in the camp for awhile tonight as the pump was on to move the sap up to the upper tank.
The level of light at the end of gathering looking west.
Wally's head lights heading back to the camp (east).
