Took Monday March 1st off due to wind! Today was cooler than the warm sun tricked you into thinking but still a pleasant day. The sap had a slow run today. The forecast is for warmer weather tomorrow so Bob decided we needed to gather the sap and boil what we had in preparation for a bigger run on Wednesday.
Bob's text lured in Bret, Melissa, Collin, Megan, Michael, Bryan H. , Kelsey, Evan, Nancy, Dale, Brad and Gerri arriving late and overdressed for the walk today.
There were several buckets blown over on the far north edge. Most buckets had a slushy quality to them with broken ice.We thank Melissa for providing a terrific taco Tuesday!!
Adam arrived fashionably late. Bob had to work for awhile. Gerri took a picture to prove it happened.
Elaborate plans have been discussed on altering the cab of Walle to accommodate an adult human. Hopefully the development phase of engineering fiasco will last until the season is over.
Nancy brought Ranger out for an introduction and initiation to the great outdoors. Turns out Ranger likes mud and water and running and the smell of tacos.
Adam reminded Brad several times that the chimney fire last night was his fault. Bob complained about the quality of the wood tonight. Brad complained that he told Bob to make a fire out of that wood a long time ago. There was a brief very funny conversation about Brad's skills helping with the lambing process and predicting delivery times. Kelsey and Evan spent some time in and out of the sheep barn tonight checking their ewe (whose name is "not sparkles" according to Bob).
There was 290 gallons of sap tonight. For sure. According to Adam Gerri asked "at least 3 times".
Total Sap Today: 290 gallons
Total Sap To Date: 940 gallons
Total Syrup Today: 10 gallons
Total Syrup To Date: 17.5
