Early spring in Ohio...variety is the spice of life.

Monday morning we awoke to pouring rain. Today we had one of foggiest mornings in recent memory. Many of the local schools delayed and then cancelled. This afternoon we hear Bellevue and Sandhill Rd. had hail in what appeared to be scattered rain showers/storms.

Kelsey snapped this photo just north of Columbus on her way home from work tonight. Cody and Amy called tonight to check in .....we warned them the forecast includes temps between 22 and 57 and rain and snow.....sometimes all in 24 hours..Amy said that sounded just like Kansas!

Mother nature was generous on Monday with plentiful sap. The boiling crew of 3 worked last eve until they "sapped" out with many gallons leftover to boil today. (Sap does not keep well when it is warm!)

Brad and Adam played a bit of tag team this afternoon boiling.(This picture is looking up through the steam vent in the camp.) Brad had errands to run and Adam ended up manning the camp for a bit....he said he took off syrup unsupervised today! He laughed that he always ends up learning something new out of necessity! Even with the early start they were unable to boil all the sap in again today.

Bob took over the fire when he got home from school. A large crowd showed up to gather tonight. Apologize in advance if we missed anyone.....Brad, Adam, Bryan, Chris, Muff, Katie, Melissa, Megan, Collin, Michael, Colleen, Phillip, Kiley, Aiden, Isabella, Lorin, Michelle and Gerri arrived mid-way......Sorry for the blurry picture ....Megan and Collin just happy we are 15 feet from being done!

The woods is soggy ...freshly laundered carharts did not look nice for  too long...

Melissa brought bean soup and cornbread for dinner which was warm and wonderful after the great walk. Michelle shared some of her travel/teaching experiences from her stents in Alaska and Hawaii....and talked about the Indians upcoming season with Adam! Kelsey, who apparently had a good sense of humor going about her rough day, shared the tales of her adventures in adulting..... met with some belly laughs from the peanut gallery.

695 gallons were collected tonight, ....3 trips to the camp with Walle......still very clear good tasting sap that makes very light syrup! Finishing before dark was a big plus as well!!

The camp smelled good today with sap boiling for many hours.....the process was slow..unsure if related to air draft through the fire pit, the quality of the wood we were were burning or the moisture in the air...or likely all of the above.

Total Sap Today: 695 gallons
Total Sap To Date: 5,463 gallons
Total Syrup Off Today: 15 gallons
Total Syrup Off To Date: 97.5 gallons
